Wear Now, Wear Later :: Suede Booties

The second August hit, I started seeing people Tweet about OMGBOOTS all over the place. Don't get me wrong, I love my boots and can't wait to start layering up, but as long as it's hot y'all need to slow your roll. However, I do think booties are a great way to start "falling up" your ensembles while it's still warm. So I created two looks using these adorable Palmer booties from JustFab to help you wait out the cold weather.

Booties are cute with skirts and shorts while the weather is still a little warm. I love adding them sans socks to a casual outfit for shopping or patio time.

When the weather cools down, layer socks over leggings with your booties for a fun fall look. I love chunky vests and felt hats and can't wait to pull these out when the time is right. Yes, I almost overheated while taking these photos...notice how I only stepped two feet outside the front door? I ran back to the air conditioner after I decided I had enough snaps! Don't try this at home, kids.

As far as the booties, I LOVE these! JustFab just introduced their new Luxe line today, which features real suede and leather shoes and boots. Their prices are only a little above the normal JF pricing, making them really affordable (these are only $60!). I found Palmer to be true to size and super comfortable for a day of errand running. I love these little booties and can't wait to wear them all fall and winter! Shop the rest of the collection here.

AJ Wears :: Pajama shorts

 I've been slightly intrigued by the "pajama short" trend that I've been seeing lately. At least, I guess that's what you'd call it. I wish I could pinpoint the other people I've seen wearing slouchy, printed shorts with blazers and sweaters, but I don't really remember. I was randomly in Forever this week and saw these on sale - plus an additional 50% - making them $6 and the perfect platform for testing a trend.

 What I discovered is, silk shorts are like, SUPER comfortable. I wore these to play the slots in Tunica with my husband for his birthday, and then they transitioned perfectly to evening for birthday dinner and drinks with friends. I'm eager to see if they translate into fall with slouchy sweaters and tights. For now, I'll wear them while I can and then just add them to my actual pajama wardrobe when the fad is over. I was so into the pajama trend, I even created a collection on Pose to see if I could find more people playing with silk.

I made two JustFab orders this month. Vivienne, the studded pump you saw last week, and Brigette, which my shoe friends convinced me I needed. I had to exchange for 1/2 size up, but these pretties are going to be fabulous for fall. I'm pretty sure I didn't have any green shoes! They rubbed a little after a full day of walking but I suspect once they're broken in they'll be pretty comfortable.

Anyone else hopping on the pajamas in public train? Here's to hoping I don't look like I forgot my pants.

AJ Wears :: Stripes and shorts

Some days, simple is better. When I'm not thinking, especially during summer, I throw on shorts and a top and I'm out the door. Casual, flats or sandals. Dressier, pumps. It's kind of fool proof.

Latest shoes from JustFab - I love these studded beauties! They're a little fall-forward for August, but I couldn't wait to bust them out, honestly. At least they aren't booties (you'll get those soon enough). I ordered true to size and found them to fit similar to JF's Joss.

But seriously, besides the shoes, it doesn't get more summer than that. True story. In other news, I've decided I like lipstick now, even though it rubs all over the place and only looks good 10 minutes after you put it on. Woot.
