AJ Wears :: Winter Shorts

I don't know when it started, but I love winter shorts. Maybe it started after I found a wonderful pair of wool shorts at Banana for like $10. I hope I always work in an office environment that doesn't find this offensive, because I think shorts + tights + cute top is the perfect business casual ensemble. I mean, let's be real. Before this, I worked in television and radio so pretty much showing up in anything but a swimsuit was acceptable.

Today was particularly fun, because I met with someone from Arkansas Life who interviewed me for an upcoming issue! I'm pretty sure I might be the worst person to interview, ever, because I have about a million trains of thought pulling in and out of brain station at any given time. Anyway, it's going to be a fun feature and I'm looking forward to showing it to you guys whenever it comes out (provided they don't photoshop me out of the pictures for being a weirdo).

Speaking of weirdo, I love this cape coat. It was a terrible impulse buy a few years ago from Express and I'm certain I spent a small fortune on it (for a 30k millionaire, anyway) but whenever I wear it, I feel so very Blair Waldorf. I know people see it and think, "Is that a blanket? Where are her sleeves? Did she arrive here by horse?" Clearly, I don't care. As seen above.

New nail color I'm loving from Birchbox - Wild Cactus by Color Club. I hardly ever have fresh polish on so I felt like this was a moment to record.

Shorts, The Limited.
Cardigan, Old Navy (similar from Target).
Blouse, Forever 21.
Shoes, JustFab.

AJ Wears :: A Bow Blouse

It started thawing out today and hit a week high of about 44 degrees, so I ventured out to the mall and hit the sale racks. I took the opportunity to wear this blouse that I bought at a vintage shop in Madison literally a year and a half ago. It's one of those super puffy blouse-y shirts that's not easy to style, but I love the big bow. Side story: one time my friends and I texted for like a week and a half arguing over whether or not the proper name of tie blouses was "pussy bow". No concrete conclusion was made.

Not gonna lie, I'm feeling a little "hot for teacher" today but seeing as how I'm not allowed near small children, I figured it was okay. Then when I was in the Limited, I bought a skirt that I actually liked with this outfit even better, but I'd already taken these pictures and figured I'd save it for later and not be one of those girls who puts on everything new they just bought in one outfit. Even though I'm TOTALLY that kind of girl.

Sweater, Forever 21.
Skirt, Forever 21 (similar in grey).
Blouse, Vintage (here's a cute alternative!)
Bag, Some place in Austin.
Shoes, JustFab.

What I Wore :: Red Legs

Red tights! Is it December or what?? Red is always appropriate but it feels twice as much so during the holidays.

When I put this on today, my husband complained that I was too "dressed up". I see his point, but I hardly think that should be anything to whine about. Always be prepared to meet an enemy or a dashing stranger. Or one of the 100s of fashion street photogs roaming the streets of Little Rock. I practically have to beat them off with a stick these days.

PS - If you're having a hard time pairing your colored tights, stick with grey, black, and white and let the legs be your accent. They'll speak for themselves if you keep it simple!

Dress, No idea but here's a similar.
Tights, The Limited. (some other colors, I love their tights) (and some red ones)
Shoes, JustFab.
Purse, ShoeDazzle.
Necklace, Baublebar.
