Take One, Wrap it Up

Let's talk about the Take One, Pass it on remix! This was such a fun challenge. S/O to Sarah for not only coming up with such a great idea, but for hosting all of us!

So I managed 24 outfits in 28 days, and remixed everything from sweaters to scarves to shoes. I remixed during a five day trip for work, which gave me a chance to add in a little business casual to the mix. I even bought items with the sole purpose of remixing them - while it sounds silly, I love doing wardrobe remixes because it helps me when I'm shopping to really look at pieces and find things that I not only love, but can wear a few different ways.

Looking back, I think this type of wardrobe remix is much more accessible for the every day woman who doesn't want to do too much prep. It's great for travel, because you can build a suitcase where pieces are worn several different ways. And it's fantastic for those days you're feeling uninspired about your wardrobe. Just pick a piece you love and remix it into a new outfit you might not have thought about before.

This also gave me the chance to dig through my closet a little and find pieces I haven't worn in a while and give them a new spin. If you're looking for a way to mix up your wardrobe and do something fun - doooooo it.

So that's it! Watch Sarah's blog for a round up of everyone who participated, because there were a ton of girls doing some really interesting things with their wardrobe. I'm looking forward to getting dressed without having to think as much again, but I have to admit being able to wear some pieces that I *love* a few times in a row without judgement was really great. What I'm saying is, don't be afraid to wear the same shirt a few times in a row. I'm 95% sure no one will notice unless you start smelling weird. And that's what Febreze is for.

Take One, Day 24 :: Striped Tee

It's my LAST DAY of Take One, Pass it on! *sob* I passed my black and white striped tee for today's outfit. It doesn't show the best part in today's outfit, which is this fantastic little chiffon hem. I first spotted it on the XXI website and then snatched it up when I stumbled on it in the store. Did I need another striped tee? NO SHUT UP. I did not. But I love wearing the ones I have so much, I figured one with a fun little detail like this to add to the rotation would be nice. Anyway, I wanted to really show the versatility of the shirt in true take one style by tucking it in.

You may have noticed, I pulled the booties from my very first Take One look to remix with this look - with that, we have come full circle. I'll recap all of the outfits and my thoughts on the whole experience tomorrow, but for now, just take in all of these delicious stripes and ponder why I can't seem to wear these boots with anything but purple. You can also play "find the pug hair" or try and figure out why anyone would make a skirt where the lining shows through like it does. So many games while you wait.

Take One, Day 23 :: Red Cords

I love these red cords. Or burgundy or oxblood or whatever color you kids are calling it these days. They're just the right amount of stretch and slouch that they're far more comfortable than skinny jeans, and I think the color goes with a lot - which is obviously why I paired it with black and white again. Hey, I'm traveling. Repeat color palates come with the territory.

I'm not sure if I could live in Austin. I've had bangs in 95% of my pictures this week but they've all been blown back or to the side in my pictures because of the wind. Speaking of pictures, I took some adorable ones this afternoon before we went to dinner but forgot to check the dial on my camera - it had switched itself to manual and they were all blown out. BUMMER. So, I retook them after hopping from one cool place to another on West Sixth.

Awesome bag I picked up on South Congress today made from old tires. Other fun events included delicious Texas BBQ, walking to SoCo and hitting up some fantastic vintage and art shops, craft cocktails on the patio at Contigo, followed by some ridiculously delicious food at 24 Diner (their macaroni and cheese makes me SO HAPPY). Oh! And we took a pedicab. FUNNESS. I think we did Austin right. I enjoyed taking an extra day after I finished my work stuff to just goof off, and having BB with me was fun. I always miss it when I fly back home.
