AJ Wears :: menswear

Girls in Menswear is like, SO in this fall, blah blah blah, mix feminine with masculine, doo be doo, MAKE IT WORK, only steal stuff from your boyfriend's closet if he's as skinny as you or you'll look weird, also this looks best on tall girls, etc etc etc - WHAT I'M SAYING IS, menswear (or as I like to call it, The Diane Keaton) has been a thing on women for basically forever. I've always liked the idea of "men style" pieces tailored for women, but it's nothing new. Today I wanted to play with these loafers at bit.

 I wore these last week (they traveled with me to California) but wanted to feature them more prominently this week because they're so darn cute. I've been wanting a pair of oxfords for a hot minute, and I liked that this pair is practical but still playful. I recommend going up 1/2 a size, because I really don't have room for socks and they rub a bit. They're not too bad, but I wish I'd ordered up. I'm looking forward to wearing them with tights when the weather cools off some day.

Oh, don't mind me. Just casually hanging out on the sidewalk in front of my house. Totally natural.

AJ Wears :: A sequined sweater

Today was a day on my feet, so I decided to stick with shorts so I wouldn't get so warm moving around. As it turns out, the ballroom I was working in was FREEZING and I spent a majority of the afternoon wishing for a snuggie. Glad I went with the layers on top!

Don't care. Still a cute outfit. I saw a JCrew something or other on pinterest from a zillion years ago that was stripes and sequins on top that I just adored but was long gone, so when I found this one on clearance at The Limited, I thought it was a solid purchase.

PS - totally wrote this whole post on the beach! I had about an hour and a half between the last event of the day and the beach party tonight so I took some much needed me-time and layed out. But the nerd in me couldn't just relax so I blogged instead. GO FIGURE.

What I Wore :: Hello, 2013!

Happy New Year, everyone! I rang in the new year with my dearest friends last night.

I think NYE might be one of my favorite fashion holidays because of my love of sequins. I can't resist wearing something sparkly and fun. Last night was no exception, of course. I found a jazzy little number last minute at Francesca's on super clearance.

 Sparkles + Fur is like, a whole new level.

 Previously mentioned jacket. It was cold, y'all. Last year we sat on the patio on NYE. This year we still have snow on the ground.

 Booties + tights was a popular choice! Those stems belong to me, Elizabeth, and Amy.

 Elizabeth looking sassy in her sparkly frock. Clearly we had the same idea. Also, isn't her bun perfection? She looks like something you'd repin on Pinterest.

 And last but not least, my adorable hubs. Last year, we got engaged on New Years Eve. This year, we're married. It's been a crazy fun year for us! He was looking pretty jazzy himself in his layers.

Sneaking a smooch in before midnight! Happy New Year to all!
