What I Wore :: Hello, 2013!

Happy New Year, everyone! I rang in the new year with my dearest friends last night.

I think NYE might be one of my favorite fashion holidays because of my love of sequins. I can't resist wearing something sparkly and fun. Last night was no exception, of course. I found a jazzy little number last minute at Francesca's on super clearance.

Sparkles + Fur is like, a whole new level.

Previously mentioned jacket. It was cold, y'all. Last year we sat on the patio on NYE. This year we still have snow on the ground.

Booties + tights was a popular choice! Those stems belong to me, Elizabeth, and Amy.

Elizabeth looking sassy in her sparkly frock. Clearly we had the same idea. Also, isn't her bun perfection? She looks like something you'd repin on Pinterest.

And last but not least, my adorable hubs. Last year, we got engaged on New Years Eve. This year, we're married. It's been a crazy fun year for us! He was looking pretty jazzy himself in his layers.

Sneaking a smooch in before midnight! Happy New Year to all!

How to Wear :: Metallic Jeans Three Ways for the Holidays

OH HAY Y'ALL. It's almost Christmas! Imagine my excitement. Then explode that by a million and that's how much I love the holidays. So here's an extra special super bonus blog for you guys this week - three holiday looks using the latest trend, metallic denim.

I've been seeing fancy, sparkly jeans all over lately so when JustFab released their holiday denim collection, I was all over it. They have metallic jeans in gunmetal (what I chose), black, and bronze. The material is a little thinner than the solid colors of the signature skinnies, but I found they fit true to size as well. My favorite part - they're not too long for short people like me. You can't buy a pair of skinnies without a sheen right now. It's hot, let's work it.

Layering is a great way to make tops more office appropriate, but I think people forget you can layer a sleeveless top OVER things, instead of just under! I love this peplum top because it has a little bit of sparkle and funk (check out this back zipper!)

Try layering a structured top over a button up or long-sleeve tee for a totally new look that will keep your warm without covering up the cuteness. This look is pretty much perfect for work-to-weekend too because the top has a little shine!

Outfit 2 is all about what you have to accomplish before the 25th - I actually wore this out shopping, for a little baking, even to grab all of my Christmas dinner groceries. Flat boots will keep you walking all day long and a chunky, cozy sweater in a fun color will keep you warm without a coat (perfect for mall walking in search of the perfect gift).

PS - a fun necklace always makes a sweater feel a little more special.

Can you see the sheen on these jeans?? I love how they look grey at first glance, but then you discover they're just a little more exciting. They're SO fab.

This is the most obvious, but a metallic jean is PERFECT for a night out! Whether its a fabulous holiday party or gift exchanging with your favorite girls, don't be afraid to mix some fabrics and add a little color to make a party appropriate outfit. I went with a bright pop in silk, a staple jacket in velvet, and mixed in a little lace.

For some reason, velvet just feels more festive. Am I right??

Anyway, that's three ways to rock metallic denim for the holidays - and beyond. They're a lot more versatile than you think, and I'd totally recommend you check out JustFab's holiday denim if you're looking for a cheap way to get into the trend.

Merry Christmas Party, Anyone?

I LOVE a good party. I think cooking for the people I love might be one of my love languages. Plus, Christmas. Duh. It's the best.

Some lovely ladies that attended my party - clearly the dress code was fabulous and sequins. As party hostess, I went with a jersey dress in a festive green and added a little sparkle with a bold statement necklace. It let me keep moving (even though I ditched my wedges after about an hour).

Sugar cookie dip with graham cookies and pretzels - delish.

Love my little crockpots for keeping finger foods and dips warm. Meatballs, lil'smokies, and a beer cheese fondue with crusty breads for dipping scream happy holidays to me.

And what party is complete without a festive punch? This one was delicious! All in all, we had far too much food but I loved having a little bit of everything. I've created a Pinterest board with the recipes I made for the party just in case you need a little help with your fete.

AG looking fabulous in an Asos sequin peplum - I'm absolutely the most jealous of this top! It's perfect for any holiday party, and if you wanted to dress it up even more a pencil skirt and some dangly earrings would definitely do the trick.

Celebrating our first official house party! Merry Christmas from our little family to yours. Hoping your holiday parties, should you choose to have any, go as smoothly as ours (and that your leftovers are just as delightful the next day).
