Take One, Day 9 :: Mustard Blazer

This blazer is one of those pieces I hope never goes out of style. It's the perfect amount of slouchy, the most gorgeous mustard color, and pretty much goes with anything. Although, I admit, I love it best with black and white. I can't seem to get away from that combination. I dressed it down a bit for some afternoon margs and shopping with my bests by adding a fun printed skirt and some flat boots (because dang it all if it's not raining again).

I'm now facing a bit of a conundrum, as I am seeing the same people tonight for dinner and would love to take something from this outfit and make a dramatic difference. I love when this challenge is easy, but I really like stretching myself too. Elizabeth (who took these pics, thanks boo!) said I should just wear the tights again. TOTALLY cheating but I can't say I didn't consider it!

Take One, Day 8 :: Polka Dot Jeans

I've been lusting after some polka dot skinnies from the Limited for a while now, but I didn't exactly see myself spending $80 for something trendy that will probably be out before 2014. So when I found these fun spotted jeans at Forever for $24, I didn't even try them on. I just snatched and bought. Which resulted in jeans that I'm pulling up a lot...but hopefully they'll shrink a little in the wash. For the record, I do recommend your regular size on these. I bought a size up because I've been thinking maybe I buy my jeans too tight. Now I'm thinking that's just how they fit me. I'd also like to mention I would have worn pumps with this outfit, but it was raining and nothing matched that wasn't suede or peep toe. I had to go with function over fashion this time.

Actually, fun story, tonight I went to see a play at The Rep with my friends. We ate pizza, drank some wine, and enjoyed a little theater. Fun night. It's how I ended up with a picture like this. (S/O to San for taking these snaps after the show).

What I Wore :: Legs like a Simpson

Sometimes, getting dressed can be incredibly challenging.

Not in a "I can't get out of bed" kind of way but in a "Nothing I'm wearing really goes together" kind of way.

Totally normal from the waist up...

...Lisa Simpson from the waist down.

On those days, I say, don't worry if everything isn't meshing. Go ahead and mix the leather and fur. Add some tights that make you look like you might have some sort of weird disease. Mix black and brown? Whatever! Tease the crap out of your hair and throw on some sassy boots and just go with it. Because those are the days where you might come up with an incredibly creative outfit that's completely out of your normal realm of comfort. Or a total trainwreck. It could go either way.
