AJ Wears :: A tutu

Look, I'm not apologizing for today's outfit. I LOVE a grown-up tutu (ie, tulle skirt). Sure, they aren't very practical in day to day life, but on the opposite side of thinking, they're perfect for making day to day life a little more fabulous, a little less mundane. I know I'm not the only one who pretends like she's Carrie Bradshaw when no one is looking.

Maybe I've been watching too much Carrie Diaries lately (LOVE that show), but I was feeling a little Carrie inspired today when I reached for this skirt. It's fun, it's flouncy, and I'm pretty sure the girls at Limited gave me a discount just because they liked my outfit. See? The grown up tutu can be magic.

Also, I wanted to wear these new shoes. They're like, neon coral so that was giving me this awesome 80's vibe. If you missed out on those fabu Zara sandals last summer, snatch these up from JustFab in black!

 Anyway, I wore this to the mall and then went downtown for a photoshoot for my new job (which is radio, btw - they needed some glamour shots to pimp me on the website). Practical? Why not!

AJ Wears :: Winter Shorts

I don't know when it started, but I love winter shorts. Maybe it started after I found a wonderful pair of wool shorts at Banana for like $10. I hope I always work in an office environment that doesn't find this offensive, because I think shorts + tights + cute top is the perfect business casual ensemble. I mean, let's be real. Before this, I worked in television and radio so pretty much showing up in anything but a swimsuit was acceptable.

Today was particularly fun, because I met with someone from Arkansas Life who interviewed me for an upcoming issue! I'm pretty sure I might be the worst person to interview, ever, because I have about a million trains of thought pulling in and out of brain station at any given time. Anyway, it's going to be a fun feature and I'm looking forward to showing it to you guys whenever it comes out (provided they don't photoshop me out of the pictures for being a weirdo).

Speaking of weirdo, I love this cape coat. It was a terrible impulse buy a few years ago from Express and I'm certain I spent a small fortune on it (for a 30k millionaire, anyway) but whenever I wear it, I feel so very Blair Waldorf. I know people see it and think, "Is that a blanket? Where are her sleeves? Did she arrive here by horse?" Clearly, I don't care. As seen above.

New nail color I'm loving from Birchbox - Wild Cactus by Color Club. I hardly ever have fresh polish on so I felt like this was a moment to record.

Shorts, The Limited.
Cardigan, Old Navy (similar from Target).
Blouse, Forever 21.
Shoes, JustFab.

What I Wore :: Lace Booties

Happy Friday! I'm feeling a little girly today. I think I feel it any time I put on lace. These booties arrived in the mail yesterday and I couldn't wait to put some outfits together (which you may have seen on FB or Twitter already!).

 I've had the sniffles the past week so my body has been rejecting real clothes every day, but now that I'm on the mend it didn't seem to mind some thick leggings and a slouchy sweater.

Aren't they just the most? BB told me they looked like panty hose and I should send them back, but sadly that made me want to keep them even more. I love the boudoir kind of look they add to any outfit. Warning - this height is not for the faint of heel! They are teetering and towering but a large platform helps counter the stiletto and actually makes them kind of comfortable! I'm in love.

Sweater, gifted (obsessed with this one though!).
Leggings, Marshalls and they're amazing
Booties, Alden by JustFab.
Cape, Express (similar! it's cute!).
