Take One, Wrap it Up

Let's talk about the Take One, Pass it on remix! This was such a fun challenge. S/O to Sarah for not only coming up with such a great idea, but for hosting all of us!

So I managed 24 outfits in 28 days, and remixed everything from sweaters to scarves to shoes. I remixed during a five day trip for work, which gave me a chance to add in a little business casual to the mix. I even bought items with the sole purpose of remixing them - while it sounds silly, I love doing wardrobe remixes because it helps me when I'm shopping to really look at pieces and find things that I not only love, but can wear a few different ways.

Looking back, I think this type of wardrobe remix is much more accessible for the every day woman who doesn't want to do too much prep. It's great for travel, because you can build a suitcase where pieces are worn several different ways. And it's fantastic for those days you're feeling uninspired about your wardrobe. Just pick a piece you love and remix it into a new outfit you might not have thought about before.

This also gave me the chance to dig through my closet a little and find pieces I haven't worn in a while and give them a new spin. If you're looking for a way to mix up your wardrobe and do something fun - doooooo it.

So that's it! Watch Sarah's blog for a round up of everyone who participated, because there were a ton of girls doing some really interesting things with their wardrobe. I'm looking forward to getting dressed without having to think as much again, but I have to admit being able to wear some pieces that I *love* a few times in a row without judgement was really great. What I'm saying is, don't be afraid to wear the same shirt a few times in a row. I'm 95% sure no one will notice unless you start smelling weird. And that's what Febreze is for.

Take One, Day 9 :: Mustard Blazer

This blazer is one of those pieces I hope never goes out of style. It's the perfect amount of slouchy, the most gorgeous mustard color, and pretty much goes with anything. Although, I admit, I love it best with black and white. I can't seem to get away from that combination. I dressed it down a bit for some afternoon margs and shopping with my bests by adding a fun printed skirt and some flat boots (because dang it all if it's not raining again).

I'm now facing a bit of a conundrum, as I am seeing the same people tonight for dinner and would love to take something from this outfit and make a dramatic difference. I love when this challenge is easy, but I really like stretching myself too. Elizabeth (who took these pics, thanks boo!) said I should just wear the tights again. TOTALLY cheating but I can't say I didn't consider it!

Take One, Day 5 :: Pumps on Repeat

Can I admit, repeating shoes almost feels like a cheat? Not as much as repeating the jeans would have been, but I probably should have remixed the scarf in hindsight. Then again, how hard is it to put on a scarf over something else? The thing about this outfit is, it was very organic. When BB came into the living room and said we were going to lunch, I ran to my closet and threw this on and we left. In my brain, it was the quickest way to remix the outfit. I wish the shoes were a bit brighter to match the collar of the sweater, but I'm not the type of weirdo who would photoshop her clothes to match better. Pug hair off my clothes and stop signs out of the background? Absolutely. I have to draw the line somewhere, though.

I guess I was going for "the casual business woman", as if I were leaving the office for the day and just threw on a sweater over my pencil skirt to go to happy hour. Is this a thing? Probably not. The sweater looks a bit disheveled, actually,  it kind of looks like I just came out of a bathroom, so perhaps I hit the nail on the head. Anywho, that means you'll probably see me remix the skirt tomorrow in a more "traditional" business woman manner. We'll find out then, won't we? Side note: I also wore this sweater to a SuperBowl party. It's my favorite thing right now.
