What I Wore :: Switching Seasons

Thanksgiving is over - in my head, the Christmas switch has been flipped. Last night I spent all night decorating the tree, pulling out everything I own that's red or green, and listening to Christmas Pandora until I'd heard Santa Baby at least 8 times. There are only so many times you can listen to Santa Baby, regardless of who is singing it.

Aw, look, we have a little porch tree. It lights up and everything. I've also set up two trees of reasonable size in the house, two on the mantel, and I'm thinking I might just keep buying and setting up trees until BB notices, complains, or it's time to take them all down again. You can never have too many trees.

Which brings me to today's outfit. I'm bordering being lost in the woods here, but I love a puffy vest with a furry hood. It's so Canada chic. I scored this one on Black Friday's hangover sale (you know, Saturday) at Banana and instantly fell in love. So soft inside. So warm. SO MUCH FLUFF. The hood comes off, but why would you want it to? Today's look is inspired by my dear friend Elizabeth - I'm matching my vest to my lipstick all because of her.

I'm thinking I may wear it every day. Red for Christmas cheer, warm fuzzy inside for keeping my torso toasty because apparently my arms defy nature and never need warming, and a fur hood for covering my hair from any snow that I may run into (har har). I'm well aware a vest is mostly a fashion statement as they make no sense in a blizzard. But man, wouldn't we all look cute.

Vest, Banana Republic (Super similar for only $25!)
Top, The sleepwear section at Target because why not? It has bears and mooses on it.

Man Style :: How to rock the tie and sweater

Greetings, bloggies! Today I have a little something special for you. We're getting BB out from behind the camera and into the spotlight for a little man fashion (mashion?) today.

The style world, after all, is not all about the ladies. Many men are even fashion blogging (Terry! Where you at?!). When we were shopping the other day, BB found this fabu sweater from Banana and put together this cute handsome outfit for the men who read my blog (or so some of you ladies can get some Christmas shopping ideas?).

Seriously, one of my favorite looks for a guy. Layers are hard to mess up on a man, so the more the merrier! Keep it well-fitting to avoid looking like you're about to rob someone. Think ties are just for suits and church? Think again. A tie under a more casual piece like this half-zip sweater is a cool look for fall. Same thing with the button up - I'm sure this looks fine with a tee, but why go halfway?

What do you think? Don't we want to see what else BB can come up with?

Sweater, Banana Republic.
Shirt, Jos. A Bank.
Tie, Similar.

What I Wore :: Road Tripping

Sometimes, the greatest adventures in life are the unexpected ones. I'm always down for a spontaneous road trip, so BB and I decided since we were halfway to Austin already, we should just go all the way! Just a few short hours later, we were hanging out on 6th and soaking up the weirdness.

I of course, was unprepared for more than just a weekend, so I dropped into Zara today and picked up a few more things for our trip, including this fun hi-lo dress! And underwear. I needed more underwear. Is this all TMI? If one cannot be prepared for the unexpected, she must learn how to improvise. I've always said if you forgot to pack it you either didn't need it or can buy it when you get there. Clearly, cute dresses fall into that category.

Tonight we wandered up and down South Congress. I loved all of the funky shops, but Feathers was my favorite. They had the most amazing vintage clothes and shoes! I fell in love with this huge tulle dress but had to leave it behind as I could not figure out one place (besides the grocery store, duh) to wear it. I did pick up a fun local tee from Co-Star and every flavor of salt water taffy from a candy store. And a button with a pug on it. What can I say? I'm a sucker for all things pug.

The evening finished on a high note with fajitas from Guero's and ice cream from Amy's. Austin is delicious.
