Things I Wore :: April 2019

April was the month of athleisure! I took on a Peloton challenge this month to do one class every day, so you’re gonna see a lot of workout wear in the mix this month. The weather has been gorgeous as well, so we’ve spent our weekends hiking and biking and enjoying the outdoors. So this month was a mix of work wear and workOUT wear for sure.

4/1: These pants have quickly become a favorite - bonus that there’s a matching blazer (AP x Halogen)! I’m feeling the wide leg crop this year and I NEED MORE if you guys have any suggestions.

4/2: Tuesday is work from home day, we got kicked out of the coffee shop early because of a wedding. I also attended my first city council meeting.

4/3: This outfit got big love on Instagram! Again with the wide legs. I had a presentation at work today so I decided to lean into the whole “professional” thing.

4/4: Okay so when I bought this jacket, I did not think it was gonna make me look like a pharmacist. I honestly don’t even know if I want it anymore.

4/5: Old Navy still killing it this year - I LOVE this jumpsuit. Cute, comfy, NAVY - it’s all the things. I did wear this to work, but more importantly, I wore this to meet Louise the brewery pug at Lost Forty.

4/6: Not pictured: gorgeous baby blue workout set from Outdoor Voices. We did a 15 mile bike ride to the Big Dam Bridge and you can see it on my Instagram if you’re really curious!

4/7: Rainy day bowling outfit.

4/8: Another Old Navy find, I really don’t think you can go wrong with a classic striped dress. This was the perfect Monday outfit for grocery pickup, catching Pokemon in the park, and choosing a new probiotic from the Vitamin Shoppe. I’m wearing petite large for a relaxed fit - and it’s currently on clearance.

4/9: WFH + Spin Class, nothing too exciting today.

4/10: I’d been WAITING for a nice enough day to wear this suit I got from ASOS, because pink linen demands a sunny atmosphere. I guess I forgot how unforgiving linen is in general and this is the last time you’ll ever see it in a non-wrinkled state.

4/11: I do a little event planning for work, and today was our big topping out ceremony on our new headquarters building. I tried to dress like a busy business lady since I’d be interacting with the Mayor, but was chastised for not wearing my company shirt and later changed.

4/12 (day): Two outfits in one day, lucky you. This wrap top from SheIn is fulfilling all of my ballerina dreams right now. It’s super soft, too.

4/12 (night): We go to this fundraiser called Eggshibition every year and I never know what to wear. Last year everyone was painfully under-dressed so I decided to go with a springy two piece.

4/13: Much to my dismay, my husband and MIL dragged me to Hot Springs (IN THE RAIN) for Oaklawn’s Arkansas Derby day. I protested by wearing all black and ultimately was grateful for the comfort. We usually dress to the nines for derby day but given the gross day, I could not be bothered. Next year!

4/14: No idea what I wore this day, but I did finally go buy a bike helmet since everyone kept warning me of TBIs.

april-5.jpg

4/15: Leaning into another comfy outfit for Monday, but more importantly - we went to the ballpark Monday night and took Zoey the pug to her first baseball game! She hated it, as expected.

4/16: Work from home + made a sporty appearance at a committee meeting at Heifer (buy your tickets for Urban Farm Fest June 6!).

4/17: I wear crop tops to work regularly, and I do not care. This one is from SheIn.

4/18: This jacket (Zara) always invites comments, usually about being a band director. I still love it anyway.

4/19: Found these flowy culotte looking pants in my closet and decided they’d be cute for work. I do not remember the last time I wore them! It’s like new clothes.

4/20: Started our morning with Yoga Warriors (outfit not pictured), then did typical errand type things like Target and Taziki’s for lunch. I swear, these are the most comfortable overalls in the world and yes, it’s that cropped tee from 4/17 again.

4/21: Bike riding day! No Easter dress since I just went to the sunrise service at Riverfront Park, but it was a gorgeous day to ride out to the State Capitol and catch more Pokemon (yes, I play Pokemon Go, it’s a good way to get out and explore you losers. add me). Athena Crop + Court Skort from Outdoor Voices is my favorite outfit now.

4/22: Work + THRILLED that this pair of jeans (Banana) fits again! Those spin classes are paying off. I also squeezed in a short bike ride this afternoon to get the Earth Day badge from Apple Watch.

4/23: Working from home and an afternoon at Nexus, followed by a long spin class and poke from Poke Hula.

4/24: No photo today, since I was up and at the airport at 5 am for a whirlwind work trip to Dallas. I did snap a photo in the Nordstrom bathroom at one point but I have no idea where it went. I was back in Little Rock by 11:30 and in pajamas by 11:31.

4/25: I’m honestly surprised I got this dressed up the day after all of that, but I had a girl date with my friends to go see War Paint at the Studio Theatre. Interesting story if you’ve never read about the feud between Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein!

4/26: I love Vanderpump Rules. Unapologetically. So I saw this tee on Etsy and did not think twice about ordering it. I’m also really enjoying the tee + jeans + blazer look lately!

april-8.jpg

4/27: Italian Food Festival + dinner with friends. It’s definitely getting warmer around here. Shorts c/o SheIn, get an extra 15% off with code: Q2ajwears

4/28: Mr AJ and I decided to explore Arkansas this summer and have started hiking any time the weather is nice. We did the Big Creek trail near Heber Springs and I got to put my #DoingThings outfit to the test. And yes, wear an adventure fanny pack.

4/29: I’ve started wearing the Old Navy Stevie “pants” (I use this term loosely as I’d say they’re leggings but whatever) almost every Monday or any time I don’t feel like wearing real pants.

4/30: 30 days of Peloton down! I celebrated with an extra long ride another Outdoor Voices kit - I have spent entirely too much money at OV these past few months but I love their kits and please use my referral link for 20% off so I can afford more OV, thanks.

What I Wore This Summer

Thanks to a summer of funemployment, I inadvertently had a capsule wardrobe the past few months. I should've planned better and written dozens of posts (gotta get those CLICKS GUYS), but I didn't realize it was happening until I started seeing the same people while wearing the same clothes. Chances are, if you saw me this summer, I was wearing some variation of an outfit below.

Casual, uninspired outfits don't make for great blog fodder, which is why it's been pretty slow on the blog this summer. So I'm going to show you what I wore all summer long in one post!

These Grandma Black Shorts

Outfit 1: Shorts, J.Crew Factory. Tank, Everlane. Sandals, XXI.
Outfit 2: Shorts, Factory. Top, Banana Republic. Wedges, Vince Camuto. Necklace, BaubleBar.

Black shorts + Everlane Tank was basically my uniform this summer. This pair from J.Crew Factory is particularly amazing, because they have a nice wide, stretchy waistband. The fabric was awesome for dressing up or down, so...

I bought them in white too.

Outfit 1: Shorts, J.Crew Factory. Tank, Everlane. Shoes, Soludos. Bag, Alexander Wang.
Outfit 2: Shorts, Factory. Top, Express. Bag, Gucci. Heels, Zara.

What's that? The same shorts in white with a BLACK Everlane tank? Yeah. You're seeing it. It's happening. In fact, J.Crew has a bunch of different colors and patterns on sale right now, so I might be picking up a few more pairs (they're TTS). I also lived in these espadrilles from Soludos - super comfy, super cute.

A Black Maxi Dress

Outfit 1: Dress, Asos. Shoes, XXI. Bag, Clare V. Hat, Goorin Brothers.
Outfit 2: Dress, Asos. Shoes, Zara. Bag, Vintage Chanel.

When I wasn't in those magic shorts, I was probably in a dress. This particular black maxi is super soft (and kind of see-thru, whoops) and inspired by the one I loved from Theory. Grab a cute clutch like the leopard one here from Clare V. and you're good for day or night.

This Particular Old Navy Dress

Outfit 1: Dress, Old Navy. Shoes, XXI. Bag, JustFab.
Outfit 2: Dress, Old Navy. Shoes, Zara. Vest, XXI.

This dress cost like $15 on sale, and to say I got my money's worth would be an understatement. I wear this thing like three times a week. I'm wearing it now, actually. This dress was my version of the muumuu this summer. Lucky for you, they've produced a ton of them in different patterns.

So that's it. Two dresses, two pairs of shorts, two tanks, and a handful of other tops and shoes. "Capsule Wardrobe" is really just a fancy way to say "I wear the same thing almost every day."
