Target Weddings :: His & Hers Holidays

It's no secret that agreeing to share your life with someone else requires a lot of blending. From the simple  stuff like learning your spouse's favorite Thanksgiving dish to the really complicated things, like deciding which family to spend what holiday with. The holidays each year have been a lesson in blending for my husband and I. I learned that he wants the traditional turkey Thanksgiving NO MATTER WHAT and he learned that I'd rather slave away on an entire meal made from scratch than take the easy route and make things out of boxes. We don't understand each other at all.

So the one tradition we started was the blending of the playlists. We set up a joint Spotify playlist and both added some of our favorite tunes to the mix so everyone at the dinner table would be happy. I added a little Montell Jordan because it reminds me of our wedding, he added some Jimmy Buffett for his Parrothead parents. We may not agree on everything, but we both love a good playlist, which is why I chose this SONOS PLAY: 5 Wireless HiFi System as my Target Wedding Registry Link pick this month.

The fact is, your music is only as good as the speaker it's coming out of, and we love that this one lets you stream from Pandora, Spotify, and Napster (which apparently is still a thing, albeit not as free as it once was). Now is the time to start getting your holiday party playlists together, so you might as well ask for a little something to upgrade your sound experience.

And what would be a great playlist without a little party ware to go with it? If you're looking to blend a little further during the holiday season, I always have great bar additions you can add to your registry. BB never drank much wine before me, and I wasn't that into craft beer before him. Now we happily indulge in both. These are two of our favorite gadgets we added to our registry - we probably pull the glasses out at least once a week!

What are some of the ways you've blended (or plan on blending) your home? PS - Target has so graciously offered up a $25 gift card to one of you guys, so enter below and I'll pick a winner this week.

What to Wear to Register (Giveaway closed)

One of the most fun parts of being engaged is the REGISTRY. It's kind of like free shopping! I'm a year and a half into my marriage now and there are so many things we received from our registry that we use every single day. We registered at Target for everything - kitchen supplies, bathroom decorations, even board games!

But first things first - creating a registry can take all day, so I put together a quick style board for the perfect registry day outfit (all from Target, of course!). Flat shoes for comfort, striped scarf for style, and a cross-body bag to keep your hands free for lists and scanning.

Pink Popover top, $20. Skinny jeans, $28. Leopard flats, $17. Cross-body bag, $17. Scarf, $15.

As for the registry, I have a few ideas for that as well! The list they give you is a great start - but make sure you're picking up things you'll actually use. Here are some of our favorite things we got from Target for our wedding.

Instagram worthy plates ($60 for 4 settings) :: These are ours! They're extra big, and a little unique. And PS...white plates look better under food for those of you who like snapping shots of what you eat. I recommend at least two boxes.

Party-worthy glasses ($40 for 4) :: Add some things to your registry you might not splurge on yourself. We registered for Riedel wine glasses, which really bring a special touch to our wine and cheese parties.

Soft-as-butter sheets (price varies based on size) :: Trust me. You'll be glad you registered for a few extra threads in your count.

Add some style to your bathroom ($20) :: Now is a great time to think about what styles you'd like to see in your home. Try and register for things that match so you can put together an entire room - we picked this shower curtain first, then built the rest of the bathroom around it including towels, soap dispensers, trays and containers, even wall decor!

And, something fun. ($40) :: I grew up with family game nights, and I love them - we received several fun board games to start a collection of our own. Plus, they're perfect for entertaining friends after the wedding.

So whether you're a newly engaged couple or shopping for an upcoming wedding, I have a nice surprise for you! I'm giving away a $25 gift card to Target in today's post. Just leave me a comment below with your favorite registry item - whether it's what you want, what you got, or your favorite gift you've given - and I'll pick a winner Friday!

DIY Wedding Gifts with Target

I got married last year, and I have to admit - registering is half of the fun! But some of the greatest gifts we received had a little personal touch to them. So I wanted to share one of my favorites with you today, with the world's easiest DIY.

We received this adorable ornament from our friends A+H and couldn't wait to put it on our tree! They used our wedding invitation to make the perfect wedding keepsake. This would be a great little extra something to add to your gift no matter what time of year it is.

First up - head to Target and grab some clear glass ornaments. You could do this with any size. As for other materials, they're pretty simple.

Make sure you write down the information ON the invitation before you shred it. That could be awkward if you have to explain why you have no idea where or when the wedding is. After you've done that, cut out the most important parts of the invitation first - the date, the location, the names, etc. You'll want these in tact so you can showcase them. Then cut the rest into small strips and use the scissors to curl the pieces.

Next, you'll be placing them in the ornament. Save the pieces you cut with information on them for the outer edges so they can be seen - in ours, you can see both of our names, the date and location, and a few other lines. You might need a small wooden dowel to move these pieces around to where you want them.

Finally, tie a small ribbon around the top for decoration and you're done! You could also add glitter or some shiny tinsel if you're feeling festive!

This little ornament will be the star of the party - but if you want to add a little something extra, I have a few suggestions from our Target registry that we really loved.

1. Kitchen Aid Mixer - The holy grail of wedding gifts for anyone who cooks or bakes!
2. Cheese Board - We're big fans of a little wine and cheese, and this cute little board and knife set is the perfect excuse to have a fancy party any night of the week.
3. Board Games - Speaking of parties, some of our friends helped us start a great game collection! Games like Apples to Apples, Scattergories, and Taboo make great gifts (and a perfect excuse to invite yourself over).
4. Towels - Can't go wrong with something practical. We love having enough sets to host a camp (or all of our relatives for the holidays).
5. Drinkware - Finally, our go-to is usually some sort of barware. It's a perfect time to help your friends start a good cocktail glass collection, that way they'll have plenty when you come over for cheese and game night.

What are some of your favorite wedding registry gifts to give (or receive)?
