AJ Wears :: Trouser Jeans

Fun fact time! About 7 or so years ago, I was a manager at The Limited. I'd say about 70% of my closet was Limited by the time I left, including a gorgeous pair of trouser jeans in a teensy size 2. Life happens and I eventually grew out of those amazing jeans, which were absolutely perfect for work, weekend and beyond.

When I saw these at The Limited last week, I almost couldn't believe it. The cut has modernized slightly, but the bones are still there. A deep blue wash, pleated front, and a fabulous wide leg (at 40% off, of course). Paired with my favorite Schoolboy blazer from J.Crew? Fall work wear magic, people.

Three more times I wore this J.Crew Schoolboy Blazer:

AJ Wears :: A Long Scarf

I'm not ready to talk about the shoes. It's coming, along with a whole long blog post about how basic I can possibly be, but we're saving that for another day.

Because today, it's all about the SCARF. This was a lovely gift from my mother for my birthday, which is in (100 degree) June. This is the first time I've had a chance to wear it, and I decided to let it flow long and free today. You know how I feel about things flowing behind me when I walk, right? SUPERWOMAN CAPE.

There's also something slightly fancy about wearing a scarf tied around your neck. I don't know what it was, but I felt very demure today, even while carrying around my giant Diet Dr Pepper from Chick-fil-A. Every day glamor, people.

Top, Zara (similar from Last Call).
Pants, Asos (exact! they're back!).
Scarf, A gift from my mom 💕 (similar from Calvin Klein)
Heels, Valentino (similar from Charlotte Russe).
Bag, Balenciaga (similar from Steve Madden).

AJ Wears :: Neutrals and Florals

Scarves are weird. Even though they aren't the main piece of the outfit, they tend to take over everything else as the centerpiece. That's why I throw one on when I'm feeling a little blah about my outfit; colorful scarves always add some visual interest, especially with neutrals. It's also a great way to add a little spring to your look, even when you're posing in front of giant mounds of snow.

In other news, I look extremely short in flats (no surprise, I am) and I thought about selling this bag because my phone doesn't fit well in it (iPhone 6 plus probs) but it's just so darn cute, I'm holding on to it now. At least for spring.

Scarf, Target (similar from 6pm).
Jacket, H&M (similar from Lord & Taylor).
Tank, Everlane.
Jeans, Hudson (exact, high waisted!!, and on sale).
Flats, Elorie via Gilt (very similar but spendy - similar option from Rack).
Bag, Kate Spade (exact in nude - similar in bright pink from Target).
