AJ Wears :: A Grid Print Jumpsuit

Hello, it's hot outside now. Which means I face a daily struggle getting dressed for work. I want to look cute, but I don't want anything to touch my body. Okay, what I *really* want is to stay home and work in my pajamas, let's be real.

Honestly, I should be utilizing services like Rent the Runway more often during the summer. They did a "Rent One, Get Two Free" (ROGTF? There's no ring to that) special recently so I rented a dress, skirt, and this jumpsuit for a few summery outfits. Because when you feel like wearing nothing, you might as well wear something completely the opposite.

AJ Wears :: A Black Jumpsuit

Anytime I buy a jumpsuit or a dress, I ask myself if it can do double duty - i.e., can I wear something under this for a new look? Turtlenecks, striped tees, and lacy tops all look GREAT under dresses and jumpsuits, and the added layer can make the look more casual or work appropriate. This jumpsuit from Tobi.com is a little dressy and revealing for every day, but with a tee underneath it was the perfect outfit for afternoon patio'ing with Zoey the Pug. Who, was so dramatic about having to be in public, refused to walk back to the car. I had to carry that 25 lb lump all the way down the street...I have no idea where she gets all that diva from (I do. It's me).

AJ Wears :: Beige

This weekend, I was a model.

Full disclosure, I was a model because my friend Sandra needed a petite person to model in her "Real Girls" segment on KATV's Daybreak (you can watch it here!). So she sent me to Beige, a gorgeous boutique in downtown Little Rock to pick out an outfit that was short person appropriate. I picked out this funky piece from Rachel Comey and they pulled some accessories for the segment as well.

SURPRISE! IT'S A JUMPSUIT!

Y'all KNOW I love me a jumpsuit. This one is most excellent because it's the breeziness of a dress, with that extra flap of fabric in the middle to keep your thighs from fighting each other. Chubrub is a real deal down here in the humid south. And that humidty does. not. play.

If you're in the River Market, wander down River Market Avenue and check out the store. Not only is Beige so gorgeous that you want to LIVE there, they definitely get the whole "effortless cool girl" vibe. Also a fun fact I learned when I was in there: they have their own line of bags, including this clutch. Just another excuse to buy local! PS - non-locals, you can shop online.
