The week before vacation is always the hardest. I leave for the beach on Friday and everyone and their dog is going to make sure I work for it. So rather than devote my brain power to things like getting dressed, I will be employing a bit of a uniform for the week: Black pants. They always make me feel more polished than jeans (even in flats!) and when I feel polished, I feel more confident, and I get more work done. There's some sort of wardrobe science there someone should investigate.
How do you avoid burnout? To be honest, I've been feeling exhausted lately - not just with my blog, but with work in general. 2015 started as a whirlwind of travel and adventure, and adjusting back to the reality of two jobs and a boatload of freelance work has not been a seamless transition. Unfortunately, the blog seems to be the first thing to suffer when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I have decided this year not to post just for the sake of posting, though. I'm reserving it for those outfits and photos that I really loved.
This is one of those outfits. I've no doubt worn some variation of this before, but I've felt better today than I've felt in a long time. I'm also wearing real pants for the first time this week, so that's something. I'm still managing to make deadlines and feel cute at the same time; Isn't that all we could ask for? PS - the secret to feeling put together when you're feeling nuts - stripes, black pants, and some awesome shoes. Throw on a little lipstick and you're ready to conquer the world.

You know what my closet REALLY NEEDED?? ...another striped sweater. I know, I know, that's a lie, but I came to terms with the fact that I love stripes last year. And if you love wearing something, feel free to buy multiple items that fall in that category because that's what you're going to reach for. The fact is, I can't wear the same striped sweater every day, so if I want to wear a striped sweater I have options now. See? I can justify just about anything. Plus, it's cashmere so it's basically like, a need.
Also, I was TOTALLY that girl that busted out a sweater, leather, and booties the second the temperature dropped. I regret nothing.
