AJ Wears :: A Fluffy Red Coat

I’ve officially dubbed this coat “The Elmo Coat.” It’s ridiculous, it’s bright, it’s actually SUPER warm. You’ve already seen it on Instagram a few times if you follow me there.

I wore this out one night and the restaurant hostess said I looked like Cruella de Ville, if she lived on Sesame Street. AND I. AM. HERE FOR IT.

The thing about wearing a super fluffy coat is that people want to pet you. As long as you’re prepared for that, it’s otherwise a fun and rewarding experience. You also have to be prepared for constant whispers behind your back. Some will love it, some will hate it. Some will try to pose with you, thinking you’re the Times Square Elmo. Own it, girlfriend.

AJ Wears :: Lots of Pink

I was born to be matchy-matchy. My G-Ma Louise is a woman of fine matchy taste, with embroidered matching sweatsuits, necklace and earring combos, and always the perfect shoes. So when I got dressed this morning, I put on pink shoes and thought...these would look great with my rose gold purse. When I went to grab a jacket, my inner Kermit said, "Grab the pink coat!"

If you too are a matchy-matchy soul, break up the monochrome with black. It's basically fail-proof. PS - you know how I like looking put together, but feeling like I'm wearing sweats? This dress is basically a nightgown. You're welcome.

Dress, Asos (exact - TTS and cheap).
Coat, Asos (similar from H&M // similar from BooHoo).
Necklace, BaubleBar.
Bag, Gucci (super similar from JustFab!).
Heels, JustFab Kateryna.

s/o to Maegan at Southern Blondie for the photos! She's cute and just bought a house. Check out her blog.

AJ Wears :: A Green Blouse

I love jewel tones this time of year. Deep pinks, reds and greens seem to pop against the traditional greys and blacks of the cold season.

But this story isn't about color. It's about going to business mixer and popping a button off my blouse. I spent the rest of the night fiddling with my sleeve and eating all of the pimento cheese I could possibly eat without people noticing and pointing.

Look out, business world. Here I come.

Top, Asos (exact).
Pants, Asos (exact-still avail. in a few sizes).
Heels, Manolo Blahnik (exact).
Coat, Trina Turk (similar).
