AJ Wears :: A Gold Bag

I have this thing with metallic bags. They're like big, shiny jewelry you can carry your snacks around in. It all started with a shimmery Pashli from 3.1 Phillip Lim, which never fails to snag a compliment when I carry it. Next, a sparkly pink souvenir from Japan that manages to be both the most practical and least practical bag at once. Now, this gold bag from Coach that I snagged on sale as a Merry Christmas to Me from Me. I've been admiring the Swagger for a while now; Coach has taken on a sleeker, cool-girl vibe under the direction of Stuart Vevers and I'm digging it!

PS. Sorry I didn't put my arms in my sleeves. I did take some photos like that, but these looked better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jacket, Banana Republic (exact - I'm wearing petite).
Blouse, Vince Camuto.
Jeans, Hudson Barbara (exact).
Shoes, Zara (exact).
Bag, Coach (exact, on sale!).

Speaking of people who have a bag problem, I've got a few gift ideas for bag-loving ladies. It's probably too late to get anything shipped in time for Friday, but if you've got some wiggle room these ideas are golden (hint, hint anyone still looking for me)!

The Handbag Raincoat is something I'm pretty sure I invented a few years ago, but that they executed WAY better. If you know a girl who would rather sacrifice a fresh blowout than get her bag wet, this is the perfect solution! Trust me. I've carried my bag inside of a grocery sack before to avoid ruining it on my walk to work.

Idea #2: Bag Charms. Cute, funky and furry charms are having a MOMENT right now! Both men and women in Tokyo were carrying all sorts of charms on their bags when I was there, and I came home with a few charms of my own to dress up my bags. It's a great way to add some personality, whether you add a little color from a leather tassel or express your love of monkeys with a cartoon charm.

NOT THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW or anything but...what's everyone getting for Christmas? Or rather, did anyone else find it difficult to not buy themselves Christmas presents like me?

AJ Wears :: A Suede Coat

When I bought this coat in Dallas this weekend, I guess I forgot that I'd recently bought a camel blazer. And when I put together this outfit, I guess I also forgot that I basically wore said camel blazer with this same shirt. And boots. If anything, this will dispel any rumors that I never wear anything more than once.

Coat, H&M (exact).
Turtleneck, Abercrobmie & Fitch (exact, on sale!).
Jeans, Hudson Barbara Fit (exact).
Booties, JustFab (similar from 6PM).
Bag, Balenciaga (similar at Macy's).

And by the way...it's the most wonderful sale of the year!

That's right, Shopbop's buy more, save more sale is here, the infamous sale that I used to buy my Alexander Wang Rocco for hundreds below the original price. Spend $250+, get 15% off. Spend $500+, you'll get 20%. And orders over $1000 are 25% off! You may want to check your math if you're close to the next tier, because I basically got a ring for free by adding it to my bag and bumping up to the 25% off. I mostly use these sales to purchase higher-stake items like boots or bags, so here's what I'm thinking of splurging on this time around:

1. Joie Barlow Booties: I've loved this simple style for a few years - I even have a similar pair in faux suede. This sale is the perfect time to pull the trigger on the upgrade, which drops them down to under $300.

2. The Alexander Wang Mini Rockie: When I saw this bag in person, I almost died it was so cute! I never felt that the Rockie was that much smaller than the Rocco, in fact, I found it kind of an odd size. The Mini is a perfect tiny bag and would be only $476 with the 20% off.

3. A Salvatore Splurge: If you've been eyeing any designer bags on Shopbop, this is a good sale to consider since there aren't brand restrictions. That 25% discount on $1000+ can add up to a lot of saved dough! As always, I recommend buying something classic you can carry for years when you buy expensive pieces, so Ferragamo is always a good choice for timeless pieces.

AJ Wears :: A Camel Blazer

Today's explanation is gonna be short and sweet. I fell in love with a camel blazer from Rag & Bone that was $600 and basically died. UNTIL...I found this one at Banana Republic on sale for only $115! If burgundy is my #1 color of the season, then camel is its best friend that hangs out all the time.

Coat, Banana Republic (exact - I'm wearing the 6 petite which was perfect w/o alterations).
Top, Abercrombie & Fitch (lol I know. exact).
Skirt, Trina Turk (similar faux from XXI // similar real from theory).
Booties, JustFab (similar).
