AJ Wears :: A Grid Print Jumpsuit

Hello, it's hot outside now. Which means I face a daily struggle getting dressed for work. I want to look cute, but I don't want anything to touch my body. Okay, what I *really* want is to stay home and work in my pajamas, let's be real.

Honestly, I should be utilizing services like Rent the Runway more often during the summer. They did a "Rent One, Get Two Free" (ROGTF? There's no ring to that) special recently so I rented a dress, skirt, and this jumpsuit for a few summery outfits. Because when you feel like wearing nothing, you might as well wear something completely the opposite.

AJ Wears :: A Merlot Sheath

A few weeks ago, I attended a fashion show event featuring Lafayette 148. It was still hot at that point, but FELT like it should be fall, so I rented this adorable wine-colored sheath to wear to the event. I love a fashion show, even more so one where they serve champagne for lunch. By the end of the runway show I didn't even feel my Spanx anymore!

Dress, Likely via Rent the Runway (similar from Likely // similar for less!!).
Heels, Valentino (look for less from Charlotte Russe).
Bag, Balenciaga (similar from Rebecca Minkoff // similar from Express).
Earrings, Stella & Dot (exact).

And what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't share a few shots from the show? Here are some blurry, somewhat visible runway photos.

Love the looks of awe on these VIP ladies. I get it, I love pleats too.

Faking Fall :: The Cropped Sweater

The word "cropped" is enough to bring terror into the hearts of many. But as is the case with most trends, there's a way to do the trend that's a little more subtle. Layering a cropped sweater over a longer top is one of my favorite ways to add a little interest to an outfit - and, bonus, it makes an outfit feel decidedly more fall-like for 90* days.

This one's a little tighter than I'd originally hoped (blast this weight gain and the boobs that come along with it!), but it did give me a little bit of an autumn boost on a day that I honestly felt like melting. To make this trend work for you, I'd choose a chunky knit with a bit of an oversized feel (see how I wore this trend during the winter here). Trend officially tackled.

More cropped sweaters I love:
