AJ Wears :: A White Pleated Top / Dress

I’m honestly not sure how Zara intended for anyone to wear this thing. It’s marked as a top on their website, but on my 5’2” frame it’s certainly long enough to be a tunic, if not a full dress. But I do suspect they want you to wear it with pants, since the thing is entirely unlined. It’s certainly the sort of piece you’d want to wear something under - hence my black sports bra + spanx shorts situation here. The entire thing may be destined to become a bathing suit coverup one day.

What’s that? They make these things called slips, in nude and whites even so you CAN’T see what’s going on under my dress? Shhhhh. Never heard of it.

AJ Wears :: A Blue Suit

I've been obsessed with The Bold Type since Hulu recommended it to me a few months ago. If you haven't picked up this show yet, it's like The Devil Wears Prada: The TV show. The fashion is awesome, the storylines are interesting, and the characters are lovable. Yes, even Jan from The Office - she's actually one of the coolest people on the whole show, playing Jaqueline, the editor-in-chief of the magazine where they all work. She's what Miranda Priestly would have been if she'd been allowed to show feelings (or have half a heart).

I'm feeling very Bold Type today. I saw a video of a girl in a blue suit recently and immediately thought, "Oh hey, I need a bright suit." I actually picked this one up from JustFab of all places (it comes in pink too!) and immediately felt like a Jaqueline-meets-HRC vibe. I mean, I only went to work and Happy Hour, but I'm ready to run whatever business you may need me to. Lemme know.

Side note: I also have been VERY inspired by The Bold Type to up my wardrobe game going into fall. I'm talking colors, I'm talking patterns, I'm talking weird puffy sleeves. I filled a cart full of Jane, Kat, and Sutton inspired tops so get ready for some realllllll weirdness up on the blog.

AJ Wears :: A Comfy Sheath

Life is too short to wear uncomfortable clothes. In my old age, I have started slowly chucking pieces that pull weird, sit wrong, dig in uncomfortably, or that I fuss too much with. In fact, I decided I loved being comfortable SO much that I placed a giant Old Navy order last month (surely I wouldn't keep all $200 worth, right? Lol wrong) in an effort to revolutionize my wardrobe into the worlds most comfortable closet.

Enter: This dress. It's a nice thick jersey so you don't feel exposed, but it's still stretchy enough that it doesn't wrinkle easily and moves well. I love this thing so much, I want it in black too.
