What's the easiest way to blog? Don't, obviously, just ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. The *second* easiest way is to catalog what outfits I wore throughout the entire month in one fail swoop. You guys seem to like these posts, and this blog has always been about real outfits worn to real places. I'd love to get some feedback on the format, too. Would you prefer to see my daily outfits a week at a time? Do you enjoy seeing real snaps like this more often, as opposed to blurry fancy outfit photos? I'm in the process of making a few changes to the blog so if there's stuff you're interested in, speak now or forever hold your peace.
In other news, I bought an Amazon Echo Look during the Prime Day sale. It's made it incredibly easy to take daily photos - review to come soon! All the photos you see here are from the Look. They let you turn off the blurry background if you like, but sometimes there's a random pile of laundry in the background so I've chosen to leave it on and "let the clothes speak for themselves" or whatever.
Here's (almost) everything I wore in August!
8/1: I'm feeling ambitious and cute for the first of the month, so I pulled this wrap dress from Asos out. I haven't worn it in a while. It doesn't close all the way. No prob! I put on a black silk dress underneath and do a tribute to Cake.
8/2: My cute fiesta dress! It was a hit! It made the transition from work to HH at 42 like a champ.
8/3: JustFab sent me this dress to try, and I'm kind of meh on it. On the one hand, perfect fall transition piece. On the other, my boobs are about to pop the buttons off the front.
8/4: I went to the pool and drank a lot of Prosecco. No one needs a photo of me in a bathing suit.
8/6: Oh look, it's the same Old Navy tee dress in a different color. Super comfy for a typical Monday - I also love these Ugg wedges!
8/7: Worked from home all day in a Twitch Onesie.
8/8: I was feeling inspired by The Bold Type, so I decided to be fashion forward and wear a crop top to work. I put a cardigan over it just in case HR dropped by my desk.
8/9: I found this dress for a friend who is super tall and needed some tall dress options, and ended up picking one up for myself as well. Remember that star dress I ended up sending back to Revolve? This one is way, way cuter. After work, I met my friend Erin at the Arkansas Arts Center to go hear Dallas Shaw speak. She's so nice, and her book is adorable!
8/10: It is truly the summer of dresses (thanks Rump!). This dress is tighter in the sleeves than I would've liked, so I ditched it before 2nd Friday Art Night festivities.
8/11: Skort + T-Shirt for some weekend hustle. I had a photography gig in Pottsville so I needed something cool and easy to move in. After that, we hit the ballpark (it was honestly way too hot for that).
8/12-13: A full day of volunteering (no idea what I wore) followed by a work from home day since I had to take my dog to the vet. Pretty sure I was in the Twitch onesie most of the day again.
8/14: I was feeling cute since I had freshly washed hair so I put on this wrap top and some actual black pants (I tend to wear my ON jeggings more these days). All I did was go to work, tbh.
8/15: I got a new purse so I based my whole outfit around it! Interestingly enough, this Theory top was a big hit with strangers. I haven't worn it that often and really should, it's cute. I spent my week planning a groundbreaking ceremony, so this outfit ran me all over town before finishing the evening at Dugan's for some pre-birthday drinks with Mr. AJ.
8/16: It's groundbreaking day! I wore the red dress to the ceremony and severely regretted these Steve Madden heels. It was only 90 that day but the humidity made it so I was literally dripping with sweat by the end of it.
8/16 (again): Once the groundbreaking was over, I went home and changed into the skirt / cami combo after showering because literally, no one at the office wants to be around that.
8/17: Took a short day at work because we were leaving to go to the Spring River for Mr. AJ's birthday. These are the comfiest pants, I swear. Perfect for traveling.
8/18-19: Spring River festivities / swimwear again / mostly just wore dog tank tops.
8/20: I am a disgusting human and still have river hair. Whatever, it's pouring out so I plopped on a Nativ hat and just went with it. Ended up showering after work and doing some plate work at Flying Saucer that night.
8/21: Another work from home day. I had two large Diet Dr Peppers from Sonic because I'm a monster.
8/22: I forgot about these overalls and found them when I was cleaning, so I decided to wear them today. All I did was go to work, and then spent $8 on chocolate from Kilwins.
8/23: On Thursdays at work, everyone stops working at 3:30 and drinks beer and wine and hangs out. I had a few glasses of Pinot Grigio and decided to pop into Fringe and Luv on my walk home. I'm now the proud owner of three more crop tops and a super bright maxi skirt. I tied up my shirt when I was trying on the skirt and decided to leave it. There was a block party on 3rd street so I met Mr. AJ there and hung out for a bit before he went to Bottle Toss at Midtown.
8/24: Look, one of my new crop tops from Fringe! It's a little skimpy for work so I decided to layer it over a button up. The real story here is that these jeans still fit - I might have found my "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" jeans.
8/25: It's hot. I got us tickets to see a panel on "Last Man on Earth" at the Filmland festival. Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, Mary Steenburgen and Frickin' Todd were all on the panel - it was SO GOOD. After, we decided to go test drive some cars on the hottest day of August for some reason. This entire outfit will need to be washed. I changed before heading to the Filmland after party at The Rev Room, where I got to meet Will and Frickin' Todd. Ted Danson was there too!
8/26: Another shirt I picked up at Fringe last week. I'm starting to sprinkle booties into the rotation while we wait for fall weather! We went to the mall and Target and then went and ate at Cantina Cinco de Mayo. I really like this shirt!
8/27: I got this dress at H&M when we were at the mall and I was really FEELING myself this morning. It's amazing what a difference cute clothes, shoes, or makeup can make. This is also on the muumuu level of comfort.
8/28: Have you noticed I've been posting a lot of SheIn tops on Instagram? It's because I ordered a TON of tops in desperation. I needed some cute work tops that were short sleeved because it's still so hot, and they're all SUPER cute. All I did was go to work today and play Stardew Valley.
8/29: I was wearing a much shorter skirt and high heels when I started the day, but just felt uncomfortable since it was about a size too small. I went home and changed into booties and this J.Crew Factory skirt and loved the outfit even more! It was the perfect outfit to transition from work to happy hour at By the Glass.
8/30: I was SO FEELING this outfit today. Heck yeah I wore shorts to work, what of it? Then I caught a glimpse of myself in a storefront window and realized my look could best be described as "Fancy Foot Locker Employee." Score.
8/31: We made it! Last day of August (oh, that's today!). That summer heat is still hanging on for dear life so I decided to wear my white pants one last time before Labor Day hits.
And that's it! Everything I wore (or didn't wear, too) in August! The MVP piece this month was my black sandals by FAR - I wore them six times!
How do we feel about this new format? Should I add purses to the photos as well? Let me know!
