AJ Wears :: Work Clothes

I love traveling for work, because I get a chance to make use of all of my business casual wear. We're actually very relaxed at my job, it's hardly a suit-and-tie establishment. But I still like to dress to impress, and I really wanted to wear this new mustard skirt I just bought.

I'm aware the skirt's length might be giving some of you an uh-oh feeling, but I would feign cluelessness, followed by "I'm short" and "That's why I wore tights" if confronted. Besides, like I said, it's pretty casual. I wore this ensemble sans jacket for the day, then added the leather for an evening reception. PS - Leopard + Mustard together, perfection. Am I right? Later that evening, I switched back into my wedge boots from yesterday, swapped the blouse for a casual tee, and topped it off with a scarf for a more laid back look (You'll see that later).

AJ Wears :: Shiny Pants

One thing I love about modern work wear is that it doesn't have to be frumpy. Rather than buying traditional suiting pieces, I always try to find things with little special details. Zippers, ruffles, unique shapes, colors, and patterns can all make a huge difference in making a "suit" into an outfit. So naturally when I found these obnoxiously shiny houndstooth print pants at The Limited, I had to buy them. My first thought was "holiday party" but figured they'd work year round, so I bought them on clearance (with some virtual dollars) which made them like a $10 score and threw them on for a morning meeting (yes, I do get out of the house sometimes).

Oh hey, I didn't see you there. I was just pretending to walk down the street in my fancy pants and must have been caught off guard by the paparazzi. It happens a lot. Anyway, the end of this story is, I love these pants and they really don't go with a lot. The end.

What I Wore :: Navy + Chevron

I love chevron. I have it all over my house. I have prints, I have table runners, I even tried to convince my husband we needed a chevron duvet (he politely declined). But shockingly enough, I have nothing chevron in my wardrobe. UNTIL NOW.

I've often admired the tops and dresses I see on Pinterest but haven't really seen any in stores until I stumbled upon this one at Target over the weekend on super sale. I absolutely love the pink and navy together, a combination that seems so terribly obvious but I was completely oblivious to until this very moment.

Happy Friday!
