AJ Wears :: Floral Shorts

Behold, the compliment shorts. No matter where I wear these things, someone stops me to compliment them. I'm not sure why I wear anything else.

Funny story about these shorts, though. They were almost the shorts that weren't. I had to make an exchange with Trunk Club and told my stylist she could toss some other stuff in there for me to check out. It was a particularly busy week so I didn't really get to do a full try-on and blog post, but the morning I was boxing everything up I picked up this bag and said, "Oh, this is a cute print. Are those shorts?" Mr. AJ and I are literally about to walk out the door and I ran to the bedroom to try these on. He was watching me try to shimmy into these shorts saying, "You're never gonna get those on." Which only made me shimmy harder because DARNIT I KNEW THEY'D FIT.

They just needed a little coercion. I was in a hurry, after all, and elastic is a stubborn beast. I took one look in the mirror and said, "Okay, those are cute," before tossing them aside and taking the rest of the trunk down to be picked up.

Long story longer, they fit, this was a great impulse buy, and I've worn them almost once a week since. They're not super expensive and look way cuter in person than on the website, so I'd give them a try if they have your size (these are the large and I'm a fairly solid 8/10 these days).

AJ Wears :: Festival

I'm not gonna lie, I've never understood the whole "festival" style thing. My first "festival" was Warped Tour circa 2000, where I wore an Eyeliners tshirt and Chuck Taylors, and almost got crushed to death from crowd surfers coming over the barrier when I was on the front row of NOFX (for the record - I was just there because I wanted to be front row for Something Corporate, duh). It was not fussy. It was not flower crowns and wedges and bodysuits. WHO THOUGHT BODYSUITS WERE A GOOD IDEA? You are probably going to the bathroom in a porta-potty. Plan accordingly, ladies. Rompers are not your friend.

That being said, I saw this dress on RTR and thought, "Hey, that's a good outdoor concert dress." And in theory, it was. I felt cute and for the most part, I was comfortable. Sure, it was like 90 outside and maybe sleeves were a little ambitious but in the shade it was fine, and my shoulders let the heat out. That's what I'm telling myself, anyway.

I'd also like to apologize to the dry cleaners at Rent the Runway. I'm sure you deal with a lot and I did not help you at all with that.

Sandals, Sole Society (similar from Forever 21).

Oh, and also - I'm going to start reviewing my RTR rentals with whether or not I'd buy the pieces. This one? TOTAL buy! It comes in white and red too!

AJ Wears :: A Two Piece Dress

In my never ending quest to build the perfect versatile wardrobe - particularly for travel - I love little hacks like today's "dress." The first time I wore it, my friend Maegan commented, "Cute dress!" and I pulled the waistband of the skirt out with excitement and said, "IT'S TWO PIECES!"

Yes, this two piece set is a modern wonder. I imagine I'll pack this for my summer excursions and wear the top with white pants and wedges, then the next day the skirt with a white silk tank. At night, I'll put the two together for the perfect dinner dress and wonder if people can smell the fact that I've worn the same two pieces for three days in a row. Easy, breezy, travel Febreze (the Gain smell makes it feel like you actually did laundry).

Speaking of travel and walking in general, these JustFab flats are my latest favorite find. They're just dainty enough that it feels like you're wearing a dressy sandal, but comfortable for walking. For some reason the pathetic excuse for a heel still makes me feel like I'm wearing heels, so that's a win in my book.

This post is not sponsored by JustFab but might as well be, since I'm a walking model for them right now. I am a Brand Ambassador, though, just for some full transparency stuff so the FTC doesn't come for my very fashionable bones.
