Work to Weekend :: Polka Dot Skirt

This post was pretty much by accident, but I like the idea SO MUCH I'm going to start featuring this as a special blog post a few times a month. I love looks that can do double duty - just change out a few accessories and you're ready to hit the town after a long day at your desk. It's a concept I use a lot when traveling, because it helps you get the most out of what you've got. So today, I'm showing you a look with a fun skirt and button up that goes from work to play in two seconds flat.

Today's work look is pretty simple. Fun skirt, button up blouse, and a black cardi. It was rainy when I left the house, so I grabbed my rainboots, but normally I'd probably do this outfit with a pair of bright flats for running around. To flip it to weekend, all we do is ditch the cardigan and swap Hunters for heels! I also like to keep a clutch in my car or even my purse if it's large enough so I can take that out on the town and leave the giant bag behind. Throw on some lipstick and you're ready for happy hour!

There's nothing revolutionary here - women have been doing this since they started taking over the office space - but sometimes being able to SEE it can help people come up with ideas. If you know you'll be going out after work, you can throw some heels or a sparkly necklace in your bag for later. And it never hurts to see how pieces can be both conservative and fun, as far as I'm concerned.

AJ Wears :: Watercolor pants

I've eaten sushi for lunch this week about three times. I can't seem to tire of it, and I've convinced myself it's a healthy alternative to the normal Arby's roast beef I'm craving around lunch time, so it's kind of been my meal of choice. It helps that's it's a cool food too, seeing as how it's too hot for pants. Except these pants! These are the pants I wore to a quick sushi lunch with my husband at our favorite little place...normally reserved for Friday nights, so it was a treat.

I have a bad habit of buying things to match outfits I'm currently wearing. These Jessica Simpson flats were born out of a trip to Dillard's while wearing this outfit. I had stowed fold up flats in my tote to replace my wedges when my feet became tired, since I wasn't sure what we would end up doing that day. But these were far cuter! I'd also JUST said I needed navy flats for fall, and I've already worn them twice since buying them Saturday, so mission accomplished (for under $30, too. I love a good Dillard's shoe clearance!).

Starbucks drink of choice this summer - venti passion fruit tea, unsweetened, with two splendas. It's freaking delightful. And clearly, the summer's hottest accessory.

Friday Favorites Remix :: The silver tweed blazer

Last week's remix choices were slim. Two colored jeans, two blazers, and some leggings. Of course, I chose the blazer because I need to wear it while it's still under 90 around here. I tried it with shorts - it didn't work. I don't know why. So I grabbed my trusty wide leg navy pants and went on with my day.

I totally got called out on getting dressed just to leave the house for a few minutes today. I was popping into the audio studio where I freelance to cut a quick audition and they said they imagined me wearing sweatpants all day. It's true - if I don't have to leave the house, I'm in sweats. But if I'm GOING to leave, I'm going to do it right. Even if I only drop by Target and go to Sonic Happy Hour. Plus, I totally needed a remix. Look! I'm twirling! Whee!

Here's how I wore this blazer last week! I don't know if it's going to look good with a skirt, but I'm digging the monochrome on top.

How did YOU re-wear this week? Link up below! Yay!!
