AJ Wears :: A ruffled dress

Ugh. Is there anything more frustrating as a blogger who relies on photos to tell a story than totally messing up the photos? I thought we had that "perfect golden light" this evening (I mean, come on, it was like 8pm). I knew the parking lot wasn't the best backdrop, but it was less awkward than trying to take pics while people waiting for a table at Mellow Mushroom looked on. What I ended up with, however, is less than ideal.

Still, the pictures tell a story, so I can hardly complain. I had a fantastic dinner with friends, joined the Mellow Mushroom Beer Club (I even got a card! Hurrah!), and enjoyed a new restaurant in Little Rock. The weather was divine for a June evening and I finally got to blog these adorable wedges. So even though the pictures might be far from my ideal, the evening was not. I love summer nights.

AJ Wears :: Black and White and Red

How DOES one take photos of a perfectly crisp skirt? I thought about ironing this one before I put it on, but then I realized it would look like this anyway after one car ride + seatbelt. I thought about ironing out the wrinkles in photoshop, and then I figured, what's the point? This is what anyone would look like in this outfit. The wrinkles are part of the whole LOOK, people. To be honest, I don't even own an iron. When BB and I started combining our two houses into one, we both assumed the other had a better iron and donated ours. Started with two irons - ended up with zero. Perfect sense!

PS YOU GUYS - How much do you LOVE me in this crop top? LOL! I had a vision of myself wearing a cropped striped tee with high waisted skirts this summer, so I picked one up at XXI. Much to my surprise, I am a really short person and it's long enough on me to be tucked into things. I'm planning on hacking off the bottom and re-hemming it into the proper length for my stumpy torso, but until then it made for a nice striped tee for this outfit. Life is short. So am I. That's why I wear heels all the time - now you know! (5'2", btw).

Shortly after these photos were taken I went and gorged myself on some Outback. G'day, mates.

AJ Wears :: A pop of color times one billion

I almost wrote a long, boring sob story yesterday about "boohoo winter woe is me", accompanied by my sad OOTD (ugly sweater, scarf, boots, in 17 different shades of brown, none of which matched). I'm not so good at the transitioning from winter to spring thing. Maybe it's the Texan in me, but when I'm ready for spring, I'm READY. The thought of putting on tights again makes me barfy.

Luckily for me, the sun came out today and promise of the 60's was enough to make me fix my hair and put on some fun clothes. I even showered (mostly). I've been holding on to these wedges for weeks waiting for some peep toe weather and an appropriate occasion. I'm happy to report they're quite comfortable, and while I don't love how my toes appear to be fighting through the holes to get at some sunshine, I like them enough to pretend I don't notice. Denial is a bloggers best friend.
