AJ Wears :: A Sparkle Sweatshirt

I love sparkly things. I'm totally a "ooh shiny" kind of person. I think I saw this sweatshirt on instagram or something, so when I saw it in store I pretty much picked it up and walked straight to the checkout counter. Will it fall apart if I ever wash it? Yes. So I try not to sweat too much when I wear it and buy plenty of Febreze. I had to google that. There's only one E.

 I'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you about these jeans (JustFab's Super Skinny Moto), which I've worn pretty much non-stop lately. They're super stretchy and have a nice higher rise, and they kind of feel like they suck everything in like workout pants. The waist is smaller and the hips are bigger, which is a better fit for those of us with birthing hips, and I love the little zipper detail on the back of the legs. They can go super skinny for under boots, but I leave them halfway zipped most of the time. They're quite comfy, if not slightly snug in my true size, so consider going up for a more relaxed fit. I'm thinking about ordering the black ones now too. Y'all know I love my JF denim. It seems to keep getting better, honestly.

AJ Wears :: menswear

Girls in Menswear is like, SO in this fall, blah blah blah, mix feminine with masculine, doo be doo, MAKE IT WORK, only steal stuff from your boyfriend's closet if he's as skinny as you or you'll look weird, also this looks best on tall girls, etc etc etc - WHAT I'M SAYING IS, menswear (or as I like to call it, The Diane Keaton) has been a thing on women for basically forever. I've always liked the idea of "men style" pieces tailored for women, but it's nothing new. Today I wanted to play with these loafers at bit.

 I wore these last week (they traveled with me to California) but wanted to feature them more prominently this week because they're so darn cute. I've been wanting a pair of oxfords for a hot minute, and I liked that this pair is practical but still playful. I recommend going up 1/2 a size, because I really don't have room for socks and they rub a bit. They're not too bad, but I wish I'd ordered up. I'm looking forward to wearing them with tights when the weather cools off some day.

Oh, don't mind me. Just casually hanging out on the sidewalk in front of my house. Totally natural.

Shirt, Love 21 (this one is cute!).
Skirt, The Limited (similar - I love Limited's minis every year!).
Oxfords, Drae by JustFab.

AJ Wears :: A Skirt, Some leggings

Hello from California! After a few days of divas and shoes and glam and all that, I met up with my husband in Venice for some R&R. We decided to piggyback off of my JF trip and make a vacation/anniversary trip out of the whole thing. So! Here's what I wore for my beach day. Ignore the John Hamm character staring me down in the background.

 We woke up after being in a tempurpedic coma (thanks, beach house!) and decided to bike to the boardwalk at Venice Beach for some brunch. I LOVE BIKES. Oh man. This skirt/tee combo was perfect for the trip, especially since I wore cotton shorts underneath.

After a bacon egg and cheese and Snapchatting in front of the Snapchat HQs (so meta) we biked to Santa Monica for some shopping and a snack and I saw Rosario Dawson at the Apple Store and bought a leopard print purse from Fossil. A flat tire and about four bottles of water later, we dropped by the Santa Monica Pier to take some pics before heading back to Venice.

The sun goes down, it gets cool here! I ditched the skirt and tee for an olive jacket, stripes, and leggings to head down to Hollywood for a few.

 We also had a chance to drop by Fat Sal's for a sandwich - way too much of a sandwich, by the way - mine had chicken fingers, buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and like everything but the kitchen sink. SO. MUCH. Nom.

I haven't been to Hollywood since I was a kid, so it was fun to test my hands in front of the Chinese Theater (mine are close to Judy Garlands!) and wait for Marilyn Monroe's ghost at the Roosevelt.

I'm hoping to do a full packing/outfit guide when the trip is over, but hopefully these hold everything over until then!
