Friday Favorites Remix :: Shorts and a Tee

Hi friends! I'm on THV 11 this morning (5:50 am! Eek!) to talk about affordable summer fashion - so I decided to dress up a plain tee and shorts by using only accessories.

Some of these might seem like a no-brainer, but adding color, pattern, and sparkle using your accessories is a great way to spice up what you're wearing this summer without making yourself overheat.

Scarves - My FAVORITE way to jazz up a summer outfit. I know a lot of people think scarves are only for summer, but stores are selling them in bright colors and fun patterns for summer! Just find one that is a light breezy fabric and wrap it around your neck, wear it as a vest, around your head, even as a belt. It doubles as a sarong on a beach vacation! And if you get too hot, you can always tie it to your bag.

Hats! It's SPF for your face and a fun way to make a statement. Fedoras, panama hats, or something big and floppy!

Fun shoes - Okay, I'm totally a shoe person, so this one is kind of a gimme. But step away from the flip flops and grab some flat leather sandals with a fun gold detail...or go all the way in a floral wedge. The attention will be all on your toes (so make sure your pedi is fresh).

Statement necklace! Le duh. Versona is a great place to pick up something bright and sparkly for summer and it's a great way to add interest and keep cool. I like doing something colorful for day and then switch to something bold and shiny for a night out on the town.

Other ways to add some fun to your outfits this summer :: vests, sleeveless button ups, anything crochet...even crop tops! When layering for summer, skip the sleeves and choose light fabrics so you don't pass out from heat exhaustion. I've given you a few examples of adding layers to your summer outfits below!

Party Hopping :: Say Hello to Versona!

Every now and again I get invited to various events around Little Rock (blogger perk?) and today it was the grand opening of Versona Accessories in Midtown! It opened today right next to the new Ulta (dude. Midtown is happening these days!) and they invited my friend Sandra and me to come and check it out.

What do you wear to a store opening? Well, pretty much what I wore all day. I've been dying to break out these Sole Society booties and this BaubleBar necklace, and I figured bold accessories were the way to go when visiting a store that sells them.

I got about 8 million compliments on this necklace. It's so much bigger than I thought it would be (always a good thing) and I'm just dying over the color. BaubleBar does it again!

Bouts to get our shop on! Yeah!

Alright, so here's the deal with Versona. It's way more than I even expected - jewelry, shoes, scarves, belts, bags...even clothes. Everything is color coordinated which is awesome. I picked up a weird bird ring that matched my outfit and a little something for my friend's birthday...and something for you guys!

BASKETS! PS, first 500 get a free tote with a $50 purchase so you know I was all over that.

Yep, check it out, I absolutely love this little bauble and I thought you would too! All you have to do to win it is - Like AJWearsClothes on Facebook, and leave a comment saying you did (or that you already do). It would be helpful if you followed the blog somehow as well, so I know you're not a freeloader. Oh, you know what, when you comment leave your email address so I can track you down when you win. It's that easy. I'll choose a winner next week but full disclosure, I may not be able to send it off before my wedding as things might get crazy.

Like. Comment. Win! And make sure you go visit Versona if you're in LR, I think you're in for a treat!

What I Wore :: Shopping Party

Okay, this is all going to sound a little "Real Housewives of Little Rock" right now but, we had the BEST shopping party tonight! My friend Sandra won this awesome shop & sip party for us at Kristin Todd and we had the most wonderful time.

What to wear to a shopping party : well, it was 107 degrees today so a dress was IT for me. No jacket, no pants, just an old fashioned shift dress in a fabulous floral print. I love this one from Forever 21! I actually would have never bought it from the website, but in person it's so cute!

Our amazing host!

A leather wrap bracelet I fell WAY too far in love with. I mean, super love. I couldn't justify the $111 tonight but it'll be on my mind for the next few months, that's for sure.

All of the gorgeous ladies I was shopping with this evening! Aren't they fabulous?

New nude pumps to replace the ones Zoey chewed up. They're all kinds of love.

We all ended up buying a TON of jewelry. Me, Candice, and Elizabeth all ended up with the same bracelet added to our arm party. So fab!!

Anyway, BIG thanks to Kristin Todd for hosting us tonight! Nothing like a little wine and a little shopping! It was too fun!
